Medical care is available for the disabled veteran.  The amount paid out on medical care depends upon the severity of disability.  Any veteran who became disabled through service related injury or by a disease contracted due to military service, while on active duty is eligible for medical care from the VA.

To Process A VA Claim:

1)    File your claim with the regional office.

2)    If the results are not agreeable, file notice of agreement.  You may be granted a new review.

3)    Request a hearing.  If you aren’t satisfied with the outcome, file your appeal with the Board of Veteran Appeals and have your case heard by an Administrative Law Judge.  It can take over two years.

4)    The next appeal of an unsatisfactory decision will be with the Court of Apeals for Veterans Claims.

5)    If you still disagree with that decision the final step you can take is to appeal to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

A Vocational Rehabilitation Program is available for qualified disabled veterans through the VA Military Benefits Program.  This program was created, basically, to give disabled veterans a chance to gain suitable employment and to be able to keep the job through education and rehabilitation.

New legislation has been passed through which veterans are allowed to hire lawyers to help them fight for VA military benefits.  It is awaiting the president’s signature.  This legislation would give the veteran the same opportunity as someone who is trying of Social Security Benefits.
